Was Aldous Huxley promoting a technocratic dystopia? It seems to me that he was an objector rather than a promoter. Isn’t “Brave New World” a predictive satire, and perhaps the ironic element is lost some readers? And his final novel “Island” closes with a condemnation of a conspiring elite.
In saying this I’m not defending another work—“The Doors of Perception”—which I have good reason to believe he regretted was published, but I do sometimes get the impression that Huxley is portrayed unfairly at times.
