  1. Interesting talk. I read somewhere years ago that a Roman historian noted that when the Romans eventually succeeded in invading Britain they found the British (Celts at that time) were ceremonially burning people to death in wicker cages (something to do with the harvest or the turning of the seasons?) The Romans, not exactly known for too much refinement or mercy, were so shocked by this practice that they outlawed it. I can’t remember where I read this, it might have been in Fraser’s “The Golden Bough”? Strangely enough each November the 5th. in Britain there is a ceremonial burning of effigies nationwide, apparently to celebrate to failure of the Catholic plot to blow up parliament. Guido Fawkes being always immolated, but other more contemporary figures unpopular in the public imagination too. I wonder if this is actually a remnant ceremony from the Celtic period? If masonry is actually founded by druids, and if the objective of masonry is the downfall of crown and alter, that would make sense since the druids went underground when Christianity arrived, or so I believe. To change topic, I have a request for Jay, which is please when you are making jokes would you break the habit of suddenly moving close to the microphone, because it makes the volume spike a lot, and that causes problems late at night when we are listening have to keep the volume down. And please it would be nice to see more comments on Jay’s site, rather than on YouTube, especially now that YouTube is descending into Hades down the censorship tube. Thanks.
