  1. Well done, Jay.

I, for one, always appreciate your appearances on shows more hostile towards Christianity, such as the time you debated the early church and its extensive writings versus that gnostic dude.

In this particular interview, Mr. Athiest and the channel’s chatroom clearly wanted to derail the conversation into a shitshow of ridicule and mockery, but you masterfully maintained frame and avoided the red-herrings into topics that would have required a separate interview in order to address the extensive nuance in your worldview.

And, since Mr. Athiest thinks something as subjective as art can be interpreted entirely through the lens of informal logical fallacies, I can’t help but chuckle when he commits the genetic fallacy upon hearing your position on 9/11: “What? You believe in 9/11 conspiracies? Now I REALLY question all claims made in your book!” As if one’s position on 9/11 has anything to do at all with the claims being put forth in a book of film analysis!

The best part, though, was watching the body language of Mr. Athiest the final half hour, slumped over his desk and feigning indifference to the topic after not being able to rattle you as planned.

    All in all, fantastic inverview!

  2. I think the guy missed the point of your work. He was treating your analysis like it was an expose out of the conspiracy genre. His debate tactics were more geared to challenging an author who argues something like “the Templars have something to do with everything.” He tried to prove that you hold paranoid theories that explain too much. Like many atheists, he exhibited unnuanced (spergish) thinking.
