American churchianity, and the West in general, are a giant atheism factory.  The clowns and carnival barkers that make up the “religious establishment” are some of the worst human beings imaginable.  Don’t misunderstand me – this isn’t the diatribe of some rebellious teen fresh off of my first copy of a Nietzsche text, these are the experiences of someone who has spent decades in these various sects and congregations.   The rot of these institutions has many sources, the more theological of which, I outlined in my popular video on the Decline of the West.

As I’ve mentioned, the mass promotion of atheism lacks the power of any real hold on man’s heart because man is a god-worshipping being.   For the classical American Protestant, for example, the Constitution becomes the new inspired text, the “founding fathers” become the new church fathers, America becomes the new “city on a hill” slash mystical body of Christ, and the “invisible hand” of the free market is the new divine providence.   For the modern “rational atheist,” Darwin becomes a new prophet with the scientific method transfigured into mythic grand narrative and its attendant priesthood of inaccessible lab coat hierarchs.  Under the guise of reason and science, scientism actually becomes a halfway house to the most bizarre, state-funded fringe cult ideologies and false mysticism expressed UFO cults, new age movements, transhumanism, paganism, Odinism, Crowleyanism, U.N.-based ecumenism and countless other man-made concoctions.

The importance of the big theological issues cannot be overlooked precisely because they are what give rise to the philosophical changes, which then lead to the societal alterations.   I have discussed many times how the empirical aspects of Thomism’s analogia entis laid the groundwork for a ‘god’ whose “created effects” alone could be ascertained in “knowing Him,” while 500 years later, this Unknown God’s creaturely shells logically led to the shedding of the hidden, and the deification of the natural world itself.  Why posit the empirical claim that this deity “exists” when he is perpetually concealed behind these supposed causal chains?  Why not just say what is, is the causal chain itself?   Isn’t this more faithful to the naive empirical enterprise?  It’s only a hop, skip and a jump from there to the Enlightenment experiment known as “America.”

While these debates were had between Eastern and Western theology hundreds of years ago, our day is one dominated by this same root notion, of bare, neutral, “empirical facts.”  As Bertrand Russell noted, our era is dominated by the Scientific Outlook.  For most, these developments constitute “progress,” one of the many unquestioned and empty slogans of the revolutionary periods, followed by “liberty” and “equality,” the new conceptual gods beyond question or analysis.  We think of these experiences as new, and unique to the modern world because they are attended with iPhones and smart cars, but these experiences are ancient.  The usage of espionage, sexual liberation and “scientific,” regal subterfuge are key aspects of the historical books of the Bible – of which modern churchianity is largely oblivious.

As a result, the numerous apostate churches and sects, especially in America, become monstrous hybrids of something resembling the skeletal remains of ancient Christianity combined with the utterly incompatible and undefined new gods of our age.   It’s comparable to the age of Israel under Jeroboam and Rehoboam, where the kingdom was divided due to Jeroboam’s creation of a new, state controlled syncretistic cult where both Jehovah and the golden calves (and eventually Baal) were all placed on equal footing under the new laws of religious liberty that replaced God’s Law.  As the entire history of the Law and prophets show, this “progressive” state religion of Jeroboam led to the sexual revolution of the introduction of male cult prostitutes and the eventual collapse of the nation state.   It’s almost like Jeroboam was running and controlling Freemasonry – the origins of modern “religious liberty.”

Most would balk at the wisdom found here, yet how perceptive and wise were the prophets in foreseeing this – that Jeroboam’s revolution itself was a state-funded facade.   In history and geopolitical analysis, we often speak of courtly intrigues and sabotage, espionage and a hundred other facets of the period of modern revolutions, but rarely do we consider the biblical approach to the norm – that the state and its state cultus – were often conspiring.  Recently rereading 1-2 Samuel and 1-2 Kings, I was struck at how perennial the problems of man seem to be.  Jeroboam, the apostate ruler who would become the first king of the schismatic northern tribes of Israel, was an exceedingly keen state operator.  Jeroboam realized the location of the approved temple worship in Jerusalem in Judah would be a problem for the consolidation of power, which led to his creation of new temple sites at Bethel and Dan (in his domain).  The institution of Jeroboam’s revolutionary esoteric cult is instructive:

Icon of Prophet Samuel.

“Jeroboam’s Gold Calves

25 Then Jeroboam built Shechem in the mountains of Ephraim, and dwelt there. Also he went out from there and built Penuel. 26 And Jeroboam said in his heart, “Now the kingdom may return to the house of David: 27 If these people go up to offer sacrifices in the house of the Lord at Jerusalem, then the heart of this people will turn back to their lord, Rehoboam king of Judah, and they will kill me and go back to Rehoboam king of Judah.”

28 Therefore the king asked advice, made two calves of gold, and said to the people, “It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem. Here are your gods, O Israel, which brought you up from the land of Egypt!” 29 And he set up one in Bethel, and the other he put in Dan. 30 Now this thing became a sin, for the people went to worship before the one as far as Dan. 31 He made shrines on the high places, and made priests from every class of people, who were not of the sons of Levi.

32 Jeroboam ordained a feast on the fifteenth day of the eighth month, like the feast that was in Judah, and offered sacrifices on the altar. So he did at Bethel, sacrificing to the calves that he had made. And at Bethel he installed the priests of the high places which he had made. 33 So he made offerings on the altar which he had made at Bethel on the fifteenth day of the eighth month, in the month which he had devised in his own heart. And he ordained a feast for the children of Israel, and offered sacrifices on the altar and burned incense.” (1 Kings 12)

The orthodox form of worship was at Jerusalem, the City of David, and it was David’s descendants who were to be the royal dynasty.  In Jeroboam’s revolution, we can discern numerous parallels to the problems of our day, and one of the more subtle is the fact that previous to this (verses 12-15) Jeroboam’s revolution began with terror.   As with many revolutionary movements, terrorism and psychological warfare become the means of social conditioning to prepare the masses for the acceptance of a new leadership, which promises greater freedom, while simultaneously threatening the most tyrannical measures of dominance.  Jeroboam threatens Israel with extreme slave labor while also promising them a new state religious cult based around ritual cultic sex magick and ceremonial prostitution (as we learn later in the period under Ahab and Jezebel).  This new state religion also included the appointing of state agents, spies and operatives as “priests” of the new cult, as we see in verses 31-32 (a very similar scheme had also occurred in the period of the Judges in chapters 17-18).

Kingdom era and the divided period.

Having been given the freedom from slavery the Israelites bore under the long Egyptian sojourn, a few generations later they were craving the religious symbols of Egypt, the golden calves Aaron had made to give the Israelites a god they could see and control – an idol (Ex. 32).  With rapacious cunning, Jeroboam had centralized his power base and utilized the technique of doublethink by giving Israel a new national symbol – an idolatrous image of their freedom and liberation from Egypt – that now stood for sexual liberation.  At the same time as giving Israel a new sex cult for control through base desires, Jeroboam terrorized Israel by promising arduous slave labor.  The irony here is Jeroboam has become a new Pharaoh, golden calves and all!

In our day, the new state cult takes many forms, and is not merely an orgy cult in D.C. (though that obviously exists).  For the Americanized evangelical dupe reading these passages, the source of the problem would be located in the state itself – the government.  This Americanist libertarian presupposition is obviously utterly foreign to biblical religion which, throughout the entire books of the kings (and a thousand other places) condemns Jeroboam’s heresy of religious liberty.   It is the presupposition of placing Jehovah on the same level as Baal and Ashtoreth from which one may freely choose like a buffet that is the root of the apostasy of Jeroboam.   Indeed, the entire ethos of America is built on the false presupposition that religious liberty means the freedom to erect a tax free religious cult for Jesus, Satan or even a hybrid of both like Charles Manson proffered.   The Ten Commandments, which I hope some believers might be aware of, actually forbids absolute religious liberty – you shall have no other gods.

The biblical position, and what would eventually become the norm for the first millennium of Christianity, is the Christianization of the Empire.   As prophesied in Daniel and Isaiah, the nations were to be converted by the Messiah and integrated into his kingdom, the Orthodox Church.  The state, as an institution, is put in its proper place as subordinate to the judgment of the Church, and even derives its authority from her (the classical doctrine of the anointing of kings and emperors).   These notions are so utterly foreign to America that is it truly miraculous when anyone comes to understand these fundamentals of classical Orthodox theology.   One can only read the decrees and letters of the Seventh Ecumenical Council, for example, and its divine praise for the “God-ordained Orthodox Emperor” with amazement, given how foreign this idea is to even American so-called “Orthodox” (who often differ from their Protestant and Catholic co-religionists only in costume).

Anointing of an Orthodox Ruler.

The problem is not an external institution, as both the state apparatus and the religious cultus under the various phases of Israel’s history often apostatized.  Even before the era of the kings, apostasy was rampant in the period of the Judges and the lack of a king is cite as at least part of the source of Israel’s religious relativism: “There was no king in those days, and everyone did what was right in their own eyes” (Judges 17:6, 21:25).  It should also be added the indictment of Israel’s call for a king is not based on the inherent defect of monarchy itself, but because they cried for a king “like the other nations” (1 Sam. 8:5).  In fact, the promise of a royal dynasty from which the Messiah would come was already promised in Genesis 49:10.

The root of the problem for Israel was the collapse of the true religion, the church, and as a result the schismatic state of Jeroboam was able to concoct an intelligence operation based around his own Pharaonic control.  This is also why authentic Christianity, Orthodox Christianity, cannot rely on a state savior, be it Russia or anywhere else.  While it is true the state has a duty to protect and promote the true religion, it cannot be relied on as the savior.  The groundwork of transforming the hearts of the people is the first and foremost duty, and when the society becomes Orthodox, the state can be chrismated and held accountable for promoting Orthodoxy and banishing heresy and heretics.   For Orthodoxy to grow, the state agents and spies (who we know in many cases are operatives of NATO and western intelligence), their ecumenical internal destruction project must be rejected as modern forms of Jeroboaism.  Until this occurs (and it is beginning to), the churchianity of the West will remain an atheism factory.

  1. 1 & 2 Chronicles provide a similar perspective. If you read in parallel to Kings, Chronicles has a deeper emphasis on liturgy and worship. The health of the state is directly tied to correct worship. I think this is exactly why the Byzantine state did its part to protect the faith and why they were often the ones to call the council.

The Orthodox Ecclesiology of Saint Justin Popovich. The Truth about ecumenism

Saint Justin Popovich of Ćelije Monastery, Orthodox Faith and Life in Christ:

in chapter called Humanistic Ecumenism pp. 169-196:

more precisely from page 172 to page 176:

The teaching of the Orthodox Church of the God-Man Christ, formulated the following about heretics through the Holy Apostles, the Holy Fathers, and the Holy Synods: heresies are not a Church, nor can they be a Church. Therefore, they cannot have Holy Mysteries, especially the Sacrament of the Eucharist, the Sacrament of Sacraments. Precisely because the Holy Eucharist is everything and all in the Church: even the God-Man Lord Jesus Christ and the Church itself and everything in general of the God-man.

Intercommunion, that is to say participating with heretics in the Holy Sacraments, and especially in the Holy Eucharist, is the most shameless betrayal of our Lord Jesus Christ, Judas’ betrayal. It is especially the betrayal of the whole of the one and unique Church of Christ, of the Holy Tradition of the Church. One would have to rid oneself of one’s Christ-like way of thinking and one’s conscience before the various sacraments,
before their holy meanings, and the holy commandments in order to do this.

First of all we would have to ask ourselves on what Ecclesiology and on what Theology of the Church is “intercommunion” based? This is because all of Orthodox Theology is not founded on or based on “inter-communion,” but upon the theanthropic reality of communion, that is to say upon theanthropic Communion itself. (cf. 1 Cor. 1: 9; 10: 16-17; 2 Cor. 13: 13; Heb. 2: 14; 3: 14; John 1: 3) The idea of inter-communion is contradictory in itself and totally inconceivable for the Orthodox Catholic (everywhere in the text the word Catholic should be understood as Universal; the word Catholic which derives from the greek word καθολικός/katholikós:καθολικός was stolen by the papists to deceive people that they are the true Church – our note) conscience.

The second fact, indeed a sacred fact of Orthodox faith, is the following: In Orthodox teaching about the Church and the Sacraments, the single most unique mystery is the Church itself, the Body of the God-man Christ, so that she is the only source and the content of all divine Sacraments. Outside of this theanthropic and inclusive Mystery of the Church, the Pan Mystery itself, there are no and cannot be any “mysteries”; therefore, there can be no inter-communion of Mysteries. Consequently we can only speak about Mysteries within the context of this unique Pan-Mystery which is the Church. This is because the Orthodox Church, as the Body Christ, is the source and the foundation of the Sacraments and not the other way around. The Mysteries, or Sacraments, cannot be elevated above the church, or examined outside the Body of the Church.

Because of this, in accordance with the mind of the Catholic Church of Christ, and in accordance with the whole of Orthodox Tradition, the Orthodox Church does not recognize the existence of other mysteries or sacraments outside of itself, neither does it recognize them as being mysteries, and one cannot receive the sacraments until one comes away from the heretical “Churches,” that is to say the pseudo-Churches, through repentance to the Orthodox Church of Christ. Until then one remains outside the Church, un-united with it through repentance, and is as far as the Church is concerned, a heretic and consequently outside of the saving communion. This is because “what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness and what communion hath light with darkness?” (2 Cor. 6: 14)

The first-most Apostle, with the authority he received from the God-Man gives us this commandment: “A man that is a heretic after the first and second admonition reject [him]. (Titus 3: 10) How can the person who not only does not reject the “heretical person” but gives the Lord Hi~self to this one or that one through Holy Communion, how can he be a part of the Apostolic and theanthropic holy faith? Moreover, the beloved Disciple of the Lord Jesus, the Apostle of love, gives us this commandment: “do not receive in your house” (2 John 1: 10) the person who does not believe in the incarnation of Christ and does not accept the evangelical teaching about Him as God-Man.

The 45th Canon of the Apostles thunders: “Let any Bishop or Presbyter, or Deacon that merely joins in prayer with heretics be suspended, but if someone has permitted them to perform any service as Clergyman, let him be deposed.” (cf. 33rd Canon of the Synod of Laodicea) Isn’t this canon obvious? Even to a gnat?

The 65th Canon of the Apostles directs: “If a clergyman, or layman, enter a synagogue of the Jews, or heretics, to pray, let him be both deposed and excommunicated,” and this is clear enough even for the most primitive mind.

The 46th Canon of the Holy Apostles says: “We command that any Bishop or Presbyter who accepts any heretic’s baptism or sacrifice be deposed; for what accord does Christ have with Belial or what part has the believer with an infidel?” It is obvious even to a blind man that this commandment categorically directs us not to recognize any of the sacraments of the heretics and that we must consider them invalid and without divine grace.

St. John Damascene, the divinely inspired bearer of the apostolic and holy Patristic catholic Tradition of the Church of Christ, preaches from the heart that all of the holy Fathers, all of the holy Apostles, and all of the holy Synods of the Church taught the following theanthropic truth: “The bread and the wine is not a type of symbol of the body and blood of Christ (God forbid) but the actual body of the Lord itself… it is called Communion since we receive Chrisfs divinity through it.” And truly it is this, for through it we commune with Christ and receive His body and divinity; through it we also commune with and are united to one another; for since we partake of the one bread, we all become one body of Christ and one blood, and members of one another, and are accounted of the same body with Christ. Let us then make every effort to guard against receiving communion from heretics or giving it to them. “Give not that which is holy to dogs,” says the Lord, “neither cast ye your pearls before swine,” (Matt. 7: 6) lest we become sharers in their false teachings and their condemnation. If there is such a union with Christ and with each other, then we truly become united with all those with whom we commune, for this union comes from a deliberate choice and not without the intervention of our judgment. For we are all one body, because we partake of the one bread, as the divine Apostle says (1 Cor. 10: 17). (St. John of Damascus: An Exact Exposition of the Orthodox Faith, 4, 13; P. G. 94 columns 1149, 1152, 1153. Translated by Frederic H. Chase, Jr., Saint John of Damascus Writings, The Catholic University of America Press, Washington, D.C., 1958, 359, 360, 361.)

Theodore of Studion, the fearless confessor of theanthropic Orthodox truths proclaims to all the people of the world: “To receive Communion from a heretic or one who evidently corrupts it before a strange god makes one familiar with the Devil.” (Theodore of Studion P. G. 99 column 1668C) According to the same, the bread of the heretics is not “the body of Christ.” (P. G. 99, column 1597A) Consequently, “As the divine bread of the Orthodox is received, the participants became one body, in the same way heretical communion accomplishes the same thing for those who partake of it, making them one body that is against Christ.” (P. G. 99, column 1480CD) In addition, communion from heretics is not the common bread, but poison which harms the body and darkens and blackens the soul. (P. G. 99, column 1189C)

Holy Scripture, Holy Apostle Paul’s Epistle to Galatians, Chapter 1:

8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

Holy Scripture, Holy Apostle Paul’s Epistle to Galatians, Chapter 5:

20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Abba Agathon, Desert Father, from The Sayings of the Deser Fathers, pp. 20-21:

    5. It was said concerning Abba Agathon that some monks came to find him having heard tell of his great discrnment. Wanting to see if he would lose his temper they said to him ‘Aren’t you that Agathon who is said to be a fornicator and a proud man?’ ‘Yes, it is very true’, he answered. They resumed, ‘Aren’t you that Agathon who is always talking nonsense?’ ‘I am’. Again they said ‘Aren’t you Agathon the heretic?’ But at that he replied ‘I am not a heretic’. So they asked him, ‘Tell us why you accepted everything we cast you, but reputiated this last insult?’. He replied ‘The first accusations I take to myself, for that is good for my soul. But heresy is separation from God. Now I have no wish to be separated from God’. At this saying they were astonished at his discernment and returned, edified.

Seventh Holy Ecumenical Council, First Session, from Mansi, volume XII, column 1022CD:

Heresy separates every man from the Church (Ηærefis feparat ab eclefia omnem hominem; ἡ αἵρεσις χωρίζει ἀπο τῆς ἐκκλησίας πάντα ἄνθρωπον).

Saint John the Almsgiver, Patriarch of Alexandria (7th Century AD), from Three Byzantine Saints, “The Life of Saint John the Almsgiver”, Translators: Elizabeth Dawes & Norman H. Baynes, St. Vladimir’s Seminary Press, Crestwood: 1977, p. 251:

Another thing the blessed man taught and insisted upon with all was never on any occasion whatsoever to associate with heretics and, above all, never to take the Holy Communion with them, ‘even if’, the blessed man said, ‘you remain without communicating all your life, if through stress of circumstances you cannot find a community of the Catholic Church. For if, having legally married a wife in this world of the flesh, we are forbidden by God and by the laws to desert her and be united to another woman, even though we have to spend a long time separated from her in a distant country, and shall incur punishment if we violate our vows, how then shall we, who have been Joined to God through the orthodox faith and the Catholic Church-as the apostle says: “I espoused you to one husband that I might present you as a pure virgin to Christ” [2 Cor 11:2]-how shall we escape from sharing in that punishment which in the world to come awaits heretics, if we defile the orthodox and holy faith by adulterous communion with heretics?’

For ‘communion’ he said, ‘has been so called because he who has “communion” has things in common and agrees with those with whom he has “communion”. Therefore I implore you earnestly, children, never to go near the oratories of the heretics in order to communicate there.’

Saint John Moschus, The Spiritual Meadow, Chapter XXVI. The life of brother THEOPHANES and his marvellous vision, and of communicating with heretics:

    Chapter XXVI
The life of brother THEOPHANES and his marvellous vision, and of communicating with heretics.

There was an old man of great merit in God’s eyes called Cyriacus, who belonged to the laura of Calamon near the River Jordan. A pilgrim brother called Theophanes from the region of Dora came to him for counsel about his thoughts of fornication. The old man encouraged and instructed him with advice about modesty and chastity, which greatly edified the brother.

“Truly, father,” he said, “if it weren’t that in my part of the country I am in communion with the Nestorians I would love to stay with you.”
When the old man heard the name of Nestor he was so overcome with fear that this brother would be damned that he fell down and prayed, and begged him to abandon this most evil and pernicious heresy and return to the holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.

“There is no hope of being saved unless we truly feel and believe that Holy Mary is the birthgiver (genetrix) of God,” he said, “and this is true.”
“That’s all very well, father,” said the brother, “but all the heretics say the same, that unless we are in communion with them we cannot be saved. Unfortunately I don’t know what to do. So pray to God for me that I may be quite certain which is the true faith.”
The old man was delighted to hear what the brother was saying.

“Come and sit in my cave,” he said, “and put your whole trust in God that he will reveal to you of his mercy what is the true faith.”
He left the brother in his own cave and went out by the Dead Sea, praying to God for the brother. About the ninth hour of the next day the brother saw someone of truly awesome appearance standing next to him.

“Come, and see the truth,” he said, and led him to a dark and stinking place throwing up flames of fire, and in the flames he saw Nestorius, Eutyches, Apollinaris, Dioscuros, Severus, Arius, Origen and others like them.

“This is the place prepared for the heretics, blasphemers, and those who follow their teachings,” he said to the brother. “So then, if you like the look of this place persist in your teachings, but if you would prefer to avoid this punishment return to the holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, as the old man told you. For I tell you, even if a person practises all the virtues there are, unless he believes rightly he will be crucified in this place.”

At these words the brother came to himself. He went back to the old man and told him all that he had seen, and returned to the communion of the holy Catholic Church. He stayed with the old man, and after four years with him he rested in peace.

Saint John Moschus, The Spiritual Meadow, Chapter XLVI. The wonderful vision of abba CYRIACUS of the Laura of Calamon, and the two books of the ungodly Nestorius:

    Chapter XLVI
The wonderful vision of abba CYRIACUS of the Laura of Calamon, and the two books of the ungodly Nestorius.

We visited abba Cyriacus, a presbyter of the Laura of Calamon near the River Jordan, who told us the following tale –
One day I saw in a dream a woman dressed in purple whose looks immediately inspired trust, and with her two venerable men of dazzling appearance. And I knew that the woman was our Lady, the holy birthgiver of God, and the two men with her John the Baptist and John the Evangelist. I went outside and begged them to come in and offer prayer in my cell, but they would not. I stayed like that for a long time, begging and praying, ‘Let not the humble be turned away with confusion’ (Psalms74.21), and many other such prayers. When she saw me persisting in prayer and repeating the same request she replied to me quite severely:

“You have an enemy of mine in your cell, and you still want me to come in?” she said. Upon which she disappeared.
I earnestly began to accuse myself and examine my conscience as to whether I had allowed some sin against her to enter my mind, for there was no one else in my cell. Only me. I argued away mentally for a long time but could not find any way in which I could have sinned against her. I could see that this was making me very depressed so I went and picked up a book, hoping that reading might drive away my mournful thoughts. The book I picked up was one I had borrowed from the blessed Isychius, a presbyter of the church of Jerusalem, but as I turned the book over I noticed that two treatises of the ungodly Nestorius were written at the end of it. I immediately recognised that this was the enemy spoken of by our Lady, the birthgiver of God, Mary ever virgin. I immediately got up and took the book back to the person who had lent it to me.

“Take you book back, brother,” I said to him, “for it has not done me as much good as it has harm.”

He wanted to know what harm it had done, so I told him the whole of what happened, whereupon he became so inflamed with zeal for God that he immediately tore the two Nestorian treatises out of the volume and consigned them to the fire.

“There shall no enemy of our Lady the holy birthgiver of God, Mary ever virgin, remain in my house” he said.

Saint Theodore the Studite, Epistle 81, from Jean Paul Migne’s Patrologia Græca, volume 99, column 1321AB:

It is a commandment of the Lord that we should not be silent when the Faith is in peril. So, when it is a matter of the Faith, one cannot say, ‘Who am I? A priest, a ruler, a soldier, a farmer, a poor man? I have no say or concern in this matter.’ Alas! The stones shall cry out, and you remain silent and unconcerned?

Saint Maximus the Confessor, Epistles, from Jean Paul Migne’s Patrologia Græca, volume 91, column 465C:

I write these things not wishing to cause distress to the heretics or to rejoice in their ill-treatment — God forbid; but, rather, rejoicing and being gladdened at their return. For what is more pleasing to the Faithful than to see the scattered children of God gathered again as one? Neither do I exhort you to place harshness above the love of men. May I not be so mad! I beseech you to do and to carry out good to all men with care and assiduity, becoming all things to all men, as the need of each is shown to you; I want and pray you to be wholly harsh and implacable with the heretics only in regard to cooperating with them or in any way whatever supporting their deranged belief. For I reckon it hatred towards man and a departure from Divine love to lend support to error, so that those previously seized by it might be even more greatly corrupted.

Abba Theodore of Perme, Desert Father, from The Sayings of the Deser Fathers, p. 74:

    4. He [Abba Theodore] also said, ‘If you are friendly with someone who happens to fall into the temptation of fornication, offer him your hand, if you can, and deliver him from it. But if he falls into heresy and you cannot persuade him to turn from it, separate yourself quickly from him, in case, if you delay, you too may be dragged down with him into the pit’.

Saint Theodosius of the Kiev Caves Lavra (+1074), from his “Testament” to the Great Prince Izyaslav of Kiev (1054-1068) whom the Papists attempted to convert to their delusion, from I.P. Yeremin, “The Literary Heritage of Theodosius of the Kiev Caves Lavra”, TODRL, 1947, volume 5, pp. 171-172:

Beware, my son, of heretics and all their talking, for our land too, has become filled with them! If anyone will save his soul, it will be only through life in the Orthodox faith. For there is no better faith, than our Holy Orthodox faith. My son, it is not meet to praise another’s faith. Whoever praises an alien faith is like a detractor of his own Orthodox faith. If anyone should praise his own and another’s faith, then he is a man of dual faith and is close to heresy. If anyone should say to you: “your faith and our faith is from God”, you, my son, should reply: “Heretic! do you consider God to be of two faiths? Don’t you hear what the Scriptures say: “One Lord, one faith, one baptism” (Eph. 4,5).

Thus, my son, beware of such people and always stand up for your faith. Do not fraternize with them, but avoid them and pursue your own Faith with good deeds!

My son, even if there would be the need for you to die for your holy Faith, dare to embrace death! Thus the Saints died for their Faith, and now they are alive in Christ.

Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit!
