    Your solo stuff is sooooo much better. Much off the idle chit chat then rehashing of the basics is so tiring in many of the interviews. OK, maybe that is a little harsh, as I generally enjoy your interviews, but you get my point…this format is more rich in content and depth and more enjoyable listening.
    A couple of thoughts on Eyes Wide Shut. When I was watching it, I thought to myself how did Bill find out about the party? A little birdie told him. Nightingale. Also, I think the rainbow shop has to do with Kabbalistic mysticism and the Daath. The rainbow bridge. Crossing over.

  2. I agree with Derrick that you have enough substance solo and the interview format slows you down…unless they can play the straight man for your Alex Jones, Webster Tarpley, Nic Cage riffs….

    Here are several choice bits about Kubrick that are not widely known nor discussed nor integrated into his bio. You should have them. Let me know if you knew this stuff.

    First, his cousin was a notorious murderer and ex cop in LA….

    His second wife was a famous Austrian-born ballet dancer (with Ballanchine no less) and a set designer for Jerome Robbins, and she appeared as ‘the girl’ in Man Ray’s film “Ruth, Roses and Revolvers” Her name was Ruth Sobotka :

    Her father Walter Sobotka was an estimable modern architect who participated with a house in the celebrated Weissenhof Siedlung exhibition along with Gropius, Le Corbusier, et. al.

    I’m sure you know his third wife was part of an art and film family and her uncle Veit Harlan directed a notorious film in Germany, but, when you recognize the intelligence origins of Look magazine and add up the cultural context that grows out of this milieu he’s swimming in, it’s…. intriguing.

    Finally, Al Hubbard, an interesting and mysterious figure in his own right, is reputed to have guided Kubrick though a psychedelic experience, and Hubbard was deeply connected to all of the usual alphabetical subjects:

    Recently saw Eyes Wide Shut, and here are some thoughts I had:

    I was at first struck by a similarity to Pasolini’s ‘Salo’, although the antagonists are ‘fascists’ and not east coast Brahmins with ties to globalism and banking. Although the ‘fascists’ from Salo are not obviously of royal bloodlines, they do address each other as ‘Duke’ or ‘Count’ as a sort of charade. Also, another point of similarity is that shortly after the picture’s release, the director was murdered under suspicious circumstances, possibly political (whether Kubrick died of natural causes or was murdered we’ll probably never know).

    It’s also intriguing that the only character who can be confirmed to be involved in paedophilia and prostitution is a simple shopkeeper, and not a member of the elite. And the oriental ethnicity of his daughter’s ‘clients’ do not suggest a connection to the supposed Anglo/Jewish elite depicted in the film.

    Here’s an interesting quote for EWS on the imdb page:
    ‘According to writer Frederic Raphael, the final form of Bill’s family name (Harford, as opposed to Scheuer in the original story) was inspired by a debate about Bill’s character. Raphael felt Bill should be Jewish as in the original, but Stanley Kubrick insisted Bill and Alice be “vanilla” Americans, without any details that would arouse any presumptions. Kubrick said that Bill should be a bit like Harrison Ford – hence the name Harford.’

    One wonders what Kubrick meant regarding those ‘presumptions’. The Victor Ziegler character was no doubt Jewish, played by Sydney Pollack, and an obvious villain if not a highly devious character and member of the elite. Elsewhere on the trivia page it says this part was originally going to go to Harvey Keitel, and several other members of the cast have at least partial Jewish ancestry as well. So for some reason Kubrick decided that only the two main characters should not be Jewish, without extending this break from the script to anyone else. Odd.
