  1. Here’s how a rocket thrust works in space. Seems the least ridiculous thing in The Martian is Matt Damon propelling himself with his suit’s O2. Which would be pressurized.

Basically it boils down to Newton’s third law, for every action there’s an equal and opposite reaction. There’s an example in the link that makes it seem totally plausible. Plus, think of all the satellites up in space, they have to get up there and maneuver around somehow.

I saw one of the shooting star type ufos when I was living on Kauai, I was actually looking for shooting stars at the time since I thought I caught one out of the corner of my eye. So one of the stars right at where I was looking suddenly streaked down like halfway to the horizon, came to a complete stop, shot right like 2/3 across my field of vision (all these moves were basically in an instant), stopped, shot up and to the left, stopped, than shot straight up out of sight. I don’t know where it came from, but it wasn’t a meteor and sure as shit wasn’t a regular plane. Unfortunately I was at work on a smoke break, no time to stick around. Couldn’t even process it at the time, bartending on a raging Friday night, lucky to find time for half a cig. Was pretty cool though, always wanted to see something.

  2. Can you point out the Nietzche quote about the pale faced atheists basically being no better than those of the spiritual cloth? I believe you thought it was in Ecce Homo. I have been trying to find it.

  3. Great talk radio. Really enjoy your sessions with these guys. Epic. Well done.

  4. Why did you all wimp out at the sixth hour? Seriously, great talk. Much food for thought.

  5. I have to make 7 hour trips (one way) for work every 10 & 5 days. These marathon sessions make the long, lonely drive on I-10 go by faster. It’s good mental food as music no longer sustains me for extended periods.

  6. Great call, as always.

It took me three sittings to get through that. I particularly enjoyed the conversation around The Magus. It’s a book I’ve read a few times and I appreciate your insights.
