Peter Gabriel Tells Us Who Made Him ‘Big Time’

Usually I end up disagreeing with a lot of ‘conspiracy’ sites’ analyses of symbolism. One good example is the All-Seeing Eye and the pyramid. For example, Solomon says in Proverbs that God’s “eye[s] are all-seeing.” I’m not sure we know the origin of the Egyptian usage of the All-Seeing Eye, but what determines the meaning of a symbol would be the usage and intention, not the viewers imported meaning. I’m not a deconstructionist or into Derrida. That said, those on the dark side do use the symbol as a reference to Satan or Lucifer or the panoptic surveillance society. It’s also possible that this is meant as a satire or criticism of the “industry.”
The symbol is a reference to an omniscient Deity. That being the case, in can refer to the one true Deity, or it can be used by anyone to refer to anything – some false god. However, in Peter Gabriel’s case, I think it’s a reasonable conjecture that he means it in an occultic sense. At 1:15 we see an image of who made him ‘Big Time.’ And on another note – Vigilant Citizen hinted the other day on Fakebook that his site is the top ripped off site now. I hope he isn’t refering to yours truly and Peter Parker, since we were doing this on my old site before Vigiliant Citizen existed, as well as others doing it years before any of us. Furthermore, Vigilant Citizen’s analyses are becoming the same – a perpetuation of the fiction that MKULTRA and the “Illuminati” literally control everything-every big video and film, everyone’s very psyche, which is just not true. Most of what he calls Illuminati programming is often just writers and artists using archetypes and Jungian symbols; not supergodmen using alters to control everyone. In fact, the articles there are being titled ‘Esoteric’ analyses now. -Jay
I hope V.C isn’t casting aspersions on our collective character or “we’s gonna have to role up on a busta!” Unless it turns out he’s a 6’5, 300 lbs, ax wielding lunatic, which, given his taste in music videos, is a distinct possibility (kidding, haha.)
Regarding the all seeing eye, it bugs me too the way people insist it’s Egyptian in origin. True, the Eye of Horus and the Eye of Ra are symbols in Egyptian iconography and pyramids are Egyptian too but to the best of my knowledge there is no evidence that a pyramid with an eye in it was a symbol used by ancient Egyptians. Near as I can tell it was used in the middle ages to signify the all seeing eye of the Christian Monotheistic God. Probably with the Solomonic proverb you mentioned in mind. The triangle is presumably meant to symbolize the Trinity. The symbol seems to have become popular with mystics and Rosicrucian types and from there with Freemasons. By a certain point it was probably so associated with occultish schools that mainstream Christianity largely abandoned the symbol. In an attempt to construct an antique heritage for themselves these various occult groups claimed this symbol, along with all their other rites and practices, went back to ancient Egypt. There followers and critics alike bought this lie and the rest is history. Of course, as you say, the intention of the users is what is key when decoding the meaning of any particular symbol. I think it safe to say, given the context it has taken on, most modern applications of the All Seeing Eye are intended to denote either esotericism, surveillance, money, “the illuminati”, or some combination thereof, not the orthodox Christian idea of God.

Seems to me that Peter’s taking the piss out of the ones that attempted to control him – I think he resisted them. He’s had a successful career but hasn’t really been in the media a lot over the years. If he was one of ‘them’ he would have been in the same spot that Bono occupies by now! I could be wrong, who knows.
To those that may not know: The all seeing eye is a symbol of enlightenment (the 3rd eye as it’s also known as, once opened makes us aware of our many latent abilities that have always been present) and is something that we all have but have not been educated about. The Illuminati (illuminated, enlightened) and other groups of good and bad intentions know of the power of this and know how to use it. We are literally being kept in dark about this and taught (openly and subliminally) throughout our lives by the powers that be that it’s a ridiculous notion that anything other than what you see around you and what’s in the media can exist.
Actually the reason I found this page because of Peters pic on his facebook page at the moment – he’s formed a triangle with his hands around one of his eyes. It seems so obvious that he’s either taking the piss out of the Illuminati or taking the piss out of the conspiracy theorists or both!
